How to use your PayNow QR
- Choose whether payments go to your business UEN or a mobile number, and enter it exactly as registered with PayNow.
- Add an amount if you want the payer to pay exactly that; leave it empty for an open amount.
- Add a reference, like your invoice number. It appears on your bank statement, so you can match the payment to the order.
- Download the PNG to send on WhatsApp or print, or the SVG for high-quality printing.
- Test it first: scan it with your own banking app and pay S$0.01.
Deposit and balance QRs for one order
Made-to-order work is usually paid twice: a deposit to start, the balance before collection. Deposit + balance makes both QRs at once, with references like INV-0042-DEP and INV-0042-BAL, so each payment is easy to find in your bank statement, and writes the WhatsApp message to go with each.
A QR with the amount and reference beats a screenshot
When the amount and reference are in the QR, the customer doesn't type them, so there's nothing to get wrong, and the payment shows up in your bank with the reference you chose. That's your proof of payment, not a screenshot on WhatsApp. More in PayNow screenshots aren't proof of payment.
Questions
Can I make a PayNow QR for a deposit?
Yes. Choose Deposit + balance, enter the order total and the deposit (a percentage or an amount). You get two QRs, one for the deposit now and one for the balance later, each with the exact amount.
How do I add a reference to a PayNow QR?
Type it in the Reference box (or the Order reference for a deposit + balance pair). It's built into the QR, so it shows on your bank statement and you can match the payment to the order.
Can my customer change the amount?
Not when you set one: the amount is fixed in the QR. Leave the amount empty on a single QR if you want the payer to type it.
Is anything I type stored?
No. The QR is made in your browser; your UEN, amounts and names are never sent to us.
Can I add a fee for paying by PayNow?
No. Merchants aren't allowed to add a surcharge to PayNow payments, so the tool doesn't offer one.
